Our Patient Centered approach ensures coordinated treatment for each patient. Adults receive quality primary and preventive care services from the Adult Medicine Department. Compassionate, culturally competent physicians and nurse practitioners are qualified to meet the medical needs of all their patients.

SWLA offers family-centered pediatric services that serve our pediatric patients from birth through adolescence.  If you are expecting a baby, we encourage you to schedule a “Meet & Greet” with one of our pediatric Providers. Services offered include: 

  • Newborn care

  • Routine check-ups and physical exams

  • Sports physicals

  • Health assessments and screenings

  • Diagnostic laboratory tests

  • Immunizations


KIDMED is a program of Louisiana Medicaid that provides preventive health care for Medicaid-covered children under the age of 21. The goal of KIDMED is to find and treat health problems early and to ensure
that healthy children healthy. KIDMED gives children medical exams including hearing and vision checks after age 4. KIDMED also gives immunizations at the appropriate ages and includes lab tests to look for
certain common problems.
KIDMED screening became mandatory under Louisiana Medicaid effective June 1, 2003.
Services include:

  • Head to toe physical

  • Beginning at age 4, vision & hearing screening

  • First well baby check at 2 weeks until 17 years & 11 months

  • Immunizations

KIDMED is not just a physical exam it is a thorough exam given by qualified staff at SWLA Center for Health Services.

The KidMed department of SWLA Center for Health Services is open the same hours of the Center. There is also some evening appointments for those parents who may have difficulty coming in during regular hours.

SWLA Center for Health for Services provides Obstetrics treatment of women before, during and after childbirth and by referral for qualified specialists for certain cases.

Our onsite OB services include performing check-ups and ultrasounds, as well as treating and monitoring high-risk pregnancies and complications. Our Gynecology services provide preventative check-ups along with diagnosis and treatment of disorders affecting the female reproductive system.

At SWLA, Center for Health Services, we understand the importance of patience, gentleness and counseling for all of our patients but particularly in caring for adolescents beginning gynecological care. We also show the same concern for our mature women in need of hormone replacement therapy or experiencing menopausal symptoms.
